It is commonly used for sewing to finish raw edges, such as garment hems, the edges of quilts and mattresses. They are produced in a wide variety of fabric qualities such as cotton 100%, polycotton (35% cotton - 65% polyester), satin acetat, satin polyester, nylon and leather. They are available in different widths, from very narrow (6 mm) to quite wide.
